Stephanie’s journey in the animal industry took her through various roles in facilities and veterinarian clinics, from kennel attendant and groomer to veterinarian assistant and eventually management. It was during this time that she joined Puppy’s Playpen, a new concept in cage-less boarding, and witnessed firsthand the industry’s shift towards a more home-like environment.
In 2005, amidst the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, Stephanie collaborated with The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to rescue animals affected by the storm. This experience led her to become certified in Disaster Animal Response training with HSUS, and she continued to expand her knowledge through courses in animal behavior, medical training, and pet nutrition.
Meeting her husband, Andrew, added a new dimension to Stephanie’s animal-filled life. Despite having had only one dog, Baby Dog, a sweet Doberman, Andrew embraced her passion and welcomed her three dogs, Fred, Hammy, and Huggy Bear, into his life. Together, they fostered puppies and kittens and eventually welcomed their daughter, Isabella, who quickly became the center of their canine pack’s affection.
With their love for dogs and Stephanie’s extensive experience in the pet industry, Andrew and Stephanie embarked on a new journey to create Cuddle Up Pup. After two years of planning, they opened a pet resort with a vision to provide a warm, home-like environment for dogs. Their facility features suites designed to feel like bedrooms, with comfortable beds and leather couches for lounging. They strive to create an environment where dogs can relax, play, and feel loved while their owners are away.
